We’re excited to introduce you to Fanny Velandia, a coffee producer in the small town of Cachipay, located in the Tequendama province of Cundinamarca, Colombia. Fanny and her family arrived in the region nearly a decade ago, working as missionaries and looking for a way to support themselves while getting to know the community. That’s when the opportunity to manage a small coffee farm came along—something they hadn’t planned for, but took on with commitment and curiosity. Over time, coffee became more than a way to make ends meet—it became a part of their daily life, and eventually, their chosen work. Fanny’s farm, San Bernardo, sits at 1600 meters above sea level and is planted with Castillo, Colombia, and Pink Bourbon varieties. Together with her husband and children, Fanny tends the land and oversees every step of the process, from farming to roasting. They named their brand “Café Maná del Cielo,” a reflection of the value they place on the land and the intention behind everything they do. Their work has started to gain attention locally, and for good reason. Each year brings improvements in both quality and practice, and it shows in the cup. San Bernardo is also part of the Biodiversal program—a regenerative agriculture initiative that supports small-scale farmers in Latin America through education, infrastructure, and long-term partnerships. With the support of La Palma y El Tucán, the program helps producers like Fanny implement more sustainable practices, increase biodiversity on their farms, and strengthen their resilience in the face of climate change. At San Bernardo, that looks like composting, eliminating synthetic inputs, collecting rainwater, and growing a mix of crops alongside coffee. The result is a farm that’s productive, diverse, and built for the future. We’re grateful to share Fanny’s coffee with you—a reflection of her family’s dedication, their evolving relationship with the land, and a broader effort to build more sustainable systems for coffee production.
